The Mahindra KUV100 NXT

Mahindra has done it again offering a better all-around compact SUV with the updated KUV100 budget car. While the new Mahindra KUV100 NXT is an entry-level derivative with exceptional value for money, the upgraded top-end versions, particularly the T8, make a true statement of intent.

In a hotly contested compact SUV segment, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT entry-level models are still budget cars but don’t be fooled by the price; owners will be pleasantly surprised with all the extras. In addition to new exterior and interior design elements, more features and technology, it is also one of the most affordable crossovers to service and repair.

AA-Kinsey Report On The Mahindra KUV100 NXT

Celebrating its 29th year, the 2019 AA-Kinsey Report is an important factor in the motoring industry. It measures the affordability of vehicles by anonymously collecting information from retail dealers and compares the cost of service and replacement parts. From there, they calculate the cost of the selected parts against the sales price of the vehicle.

This year, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT was top of the list on the 2019 AA-Kinsey Report in its category. It beat all other compact crossovers in the study and registered overall as one of the five most affordable vehicles.

The research team for the Kinsey Report chose the Mahindra KUV100 NXT K6+ 1.2 petrol-model. It includes luxuries like air conditioning, electric windows, a fuel-saving Start/Stop system and a 3-year/50 000 km service plan as standard. All of this only costs R191 999.

With the Mahindra KUV100 NXT K6+, the total parts basket cost R68 638, 25 which is almost R20 000 less than the nearest competitor. In the crossover segment, it falls roughly within R5 000 of the overall most affordable entry-level car in the AA-Kinsey test.

Affordable And Stylish Crossover

The Mahindra compact SUV range now starts with a petrol-engine K2+ derivative retailing at R134 999*. It includes driver and passenger airbags, ABS, air-conditioning, dual-pod information display in the instrument cluster, rear child locks, a gear change indicator, front carpets and multiple storage spaces (cup holders and rear-seat underfloor storage).

The company has also initiated a Graduate Finance programme where young graduates can qualify for vehicle finance with low monthly repayments starting at R2 199 without the need for a credit check. This graduate deal also does not require a deposit and includes 1-year vehicle insurance and special finance offering**.

Mahindra’s new entry-level KUV100 NXT is taking on other high-volume cars such as the Renault Kwid and Datsun Go. However, a major difference is that the Mahindra KUV100 NXT K2+ offers much better safety specifications which deserve special recognition.

Better Safety, Better Value

Mahindra delivered on their promise by offering the KUV100 NXT K2+ at R137 999* featuring two airbags, ABS-brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, an immobiliser and child locks as standard. As a result of this, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT K2 is by far the most affordable car with ABS and two airbags in the country. It gets even better as Mahindra has also included a 5-year/150 000 km warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance.

According to Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa: “When we launched the upgraded KUV100 NXT range in October last year, we wanted to prove that you can get a stylish and modern crossover that is also one of the most affordable vehicles in the market. And we wanted to do this without compromising on safety or security.”

Gupta continued by saying that the KUV100 NXT has become one of their top sellers since the launch of the upgraded model. This includes private buyers but also several vehicle rental fleets. This, in itself, is a major feat as it reflects a strong endorsement of the brand considering that fleet buyers measure affordability in the sales price and day-to-day running costs.
