Survivor is one of South Africa’s most popular reality shows. For the second year running, Mahindra has sponsored a show within the show where a fan favourite contestant and one fan each drove away in a brand new Mahindra SUV.

Survivor Rob Bentele was voted the most popular contestant, narrow beating other favourites Jacques Burger and Nicole Capper. His prize is the top of the range Mahindra KUV NXT K8 SUV. According to Rob: “The KUV100 is a representation of the fans’ love, and that I will always treasure. On a more subtle note, this car is durable and rugged, which I believe is symbolic of how I played the game.”

Gauteng-based student Kyle Roberts won the Survivor Fan Favourite competition and drove away in the Mahindra XUV300 W8 after only entering the competition twice. “I couldn’t believe my luck. I am a huge fan of Survivor and who knows, maybe someday I can also enter. But for now, my first order of business is to sell my old car!”

“In South Africa’s crowded vehicle market with over 50 brands and thousands of options available, Mahindra has had to earn the trust and custom of South African buyers. But we are #AlwaysUpForAChallenge – just like Rob – and today we are one of the country’s fastest-growing vehicle brands. It is that spirit of the challenge that we see in all the contestants of Survivor South Africa and that has made it one of the three top shows in South African prime time,” Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.

He added that they were very excited about the recently launched Mahindra XUV300, as it was very well equipped and competitively priced to compete in the highly contested SUV market. This compact crossover SUV offers best in its class safety features, including 7 airbags. Its aggressively-good looks, a long list of features and nippy performance let it go head to head with any similarly-sized SUV in South Africa.

The Mahindra KUV100 NXT K8 that Rob won is very popular here. It is both taller and wider than similar crossovers and boasts safety features such as ABS with EBD, CBC and dual airbags. It is the perfect balance between the features people want at a price they can afford.
