Two Crowd-Favourite Electric Offeringss

Something exciting is brewing in the world of EVs. Mahindra isn’t watching from the sidelines either – they’re right in the thick of it. As 2025 shapes up to be a defining year for electric vehicles, the Indian automaker has stormed onto the scene with not one but two striking new offerings: the XEV 9e and BE 6.

Since their launch in March 2025, the XEV 9e and BE 6 have been turning heads and winning hearts, showcasing Indian engineering at its finest. Sleek, smart, and seriously powerful, these SUVs signal Mahindra’s success in balancing futuristic design, real-world usability, and innovation.

Two Distinct EVs, One Electric Platform

Built on the same cutting-edge INGLO platform, the XEV 9e and BE 6 may share a foundation, but their personalities couldn’t be more different. The XEV 9e is built for families, comfort-seekers, and anyone who appreciates luxury layered with practicality. It features a bold, futuristic design with a sculpted profile, an illuminated Mahindra badge, and a wide, planted stance. Inside, it feels more like a digital lounge than an SUV, thanks to a panoramic sunroof, plush power-adjustable seating, and a stunning three-screen dashboard setup.

The BE 6, on the other hand, is made for those who love the thrill of the drive. It brings a sharper, sportier edge to the electric SUV world with its coupe-inspired silhouette, fighter jet aesthetics, stiffer suspension, and aerodynamic details that look ripped from a sci-fi flick.

Range That’s Ready to Roam

Performance-wise, the forward-looking SUVs offer fast charging, impressive range, and superior driving dynamics with vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h clocks in under 7 seconds, putting them firmly in sporty territory. The XEV 9e offers two battery configurations, a 79 kWh pack with an ARAI-certified range of 659 km. It is claimed to offer a real-world range of over 500 km. Also available is a 59 kWh option offering a 542 km range. The BE 6 follows the same setup, with its 79 kWh battery reaching up to 682 km per charge and the smaller 59 kWh pack offering a range of 557 km.

Sculpted for the Spotlight

Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e look like they rolled straight off a movie set: bold, futuristic, and dripping with presence. Mahindra’s Heartcore Design philosophy radiates through both SUVs, merging innovation with modern luxury in a way that’s anything but ordinary.

Inspired by fighter jets, the BE 6 design is sharp and aerodynamic, easily one of the boldest-looking SUVs in its class. Details like flush door handles, sleek LED DRLs, a muscular front bumper, a C-shaped lighting signature, black wheel arch cladding, and minimalist rugged accents amplify its athletic vibe, while the sloping roofline and planted stance complete its dynamic, ready-for-anything look.

The XEV 9e, meanwhile, brings a different kind of appeal: clean, confident, and tech-forward. A bold, closed-off grille paired with angular LED headlights and an illuminated Mahindra badge gives it a distinct identity. Its wide body and muscular wheel arches enhance its road presence, while the sculpted surfaces lean into a more premium, luxury-driven aesthetic. It’s designed for those who want all the futuristic flair – just with a more refined finish.

Tech-Packed, Futuristic Interiors

Mahindra never shies away from loading their products to the brim, and the Born Electric SUVs are no exception. The BE 6’s interior is driver-focused, featuring dual 12.3-inch screens with an augmented reality heads-up display. The halo-style cockpit wraps around you with aviation-inspired controls, ambient lighting, and premium materials, creating a cabin that feels functional and undeniably fun.

Over in the XEV 9e, a luxury-focused setup that pushes the boundaries of in-car technology is on display. It features a triple-screen configuration, integrating the digital instrument cluster, infotainment system, and a dedicated passenger display. Furthermore, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic glass roof, plush leatherette upholstery, and power-adjustable seats make the XEV 9e as much about top-tier comfort as it is about cutting-edge performance.

These features, combined with top safety tech like seven airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, and blind-spot detection, offer a level of convenience and peace of mind that makes every journey feel effortless.

Mahindra has asserted its dominance, showing that Indian carmakers are more than ready to compete with global EV giants. And with over 3,000 deliveries already completed in under a month, the excitement clearly isn’t slowing down. Now all that’s left is for these electric SUV duo to reach South African roads. And when they do, they’re bound to get noticed.
