More about the Mahindra scrapping service
Mahindra MSTC Recycling Private Limited (MMRPL) is working with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) in scrapping used or end of life vehicles under the brand name CERO in India.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, part of the Mahindra Group, has signed an MoU with Mahindra MMRPL to bring a first-ever end-to-end solution for vehicle scrapping. The agreement will enable customers to get a hassle-free and fair deal all under one roof. Customers who want to purchase a new Mahindra vehicle can do so by scrapping or exchanging their car at any Mahindra dealership if it’s older than 15 years.
This Mahindra vehicle scrapping service will provide customers in India with the convenience of buying a car and scrapping their old one without having to find a reputable scrapping company. It comes at a good time given the latest vehicle scrapping policy announced by the Minister for Road, Transport and Highways in the Lok Sabha on 18th March 2021. The policy aims at creating an ecosystem to remove old and polluting vehicles from the roads.
Veejay Ram Nakra, CEO Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said the following of the partnership: “Our agreement with MMRPL is a step towards delivering customer delight through a convenient, one-stop solution for customers who wish to scrap their old vehicle. While the scrappage policy will take effect in some time, we are ready to help the customers who intend to discard their vehicles.”
Mahindra Vehicle Scrapping Initiative With CERO
Under the agreement, customers will receive a vehicle evaluation and quote for the exchanging or scrapping of the vehicle. CERO will provide end-to-end services which include vehicle collection, transport and environmentally friendly dismantling at CERO scrap yards.
Once the process is complete, CERO will issue a Certificate of Deposit/Destruction (COD) which will enable customers to claim benefits under the upcoming Scrappage Policy. Considering the COVID-19 situation, Mahindra is offering customers a doorstep evaluation to encourage them to stay at home.
According to Sumit Issar, Managing Director of Mahindra Intertrade Ltd., CERO is India’s first authorised recycler for cars built on the PPP model. They have dismantling centres at Greater Noida, Pune and Chennai with collection centres at major cities including Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh.
CERO also has plans to expand into 25 more cities within the next 8-10 months. The Mahindra vehicle scrapping agreement looks set to strengthen this position which will benefit all Mahindra vehicle customers who want eco-friendly solutions for scrapping their old cars.
Recently, Mahindra further reinforced its focus on customer convenience by introducing a first of its kind self-evaluation tool called Insta Cash Offer (ICO). It forms part of its own Online Digital platform where customers can do a self-evaluation of their vehicle and get an instant offer for their used car. The company has already worked on several initiatives to offer innovative, digital, and flexible options to all segments of its customers.
Who Is Mahindra MSTC Recycling Private Limited (MMRPL)
Mahindra MSTC Recycling Private Limited (MMRPL) is a joint venture between Mahindra Intertrade Ltd. and MSTC Ltd., classified as a non-government India Enterprise. They set up India’s First Automotive & Steel Recycling facility under the brand name CERO at Greater Noida in January 2018. MMRPL is India’s first organised, fully compliant, pollution-free recycling facility where the end of life vehicles are collected, depolluted and dismantled.
The facility embraces a zero pollution objective with the automated plant capable of recycling old trucks, buses, cars, two or three-wheelers. The recovered raw materials will go to companies that can re-use them, provided every part meets the stringent quality and sustainability requirements. Automotive steel is one of the best materials out there as it can easily be melted down and repurposed which greatly promotes a circular economy.
Whether a similar Mahindra vehicle scrapping initiative will come to South Africa remains to be seen but you can follow this story and other interesting motoring news on our blog. You can also and be among the first to receive special offers and announcements.
