Much like when a woman gets a new haircut or changes her go-to purse, a change of logo in the auto industry always indicates that big, exciting changes are on the horizon. As such, we are very happy to announce that Mahindra will be getting a fresh new logo soon! It is poised to make its way into the world on the hood of the new XUV700 this year, and it’s looking all sorts of sleek.

Mahindra was first established in 1945 as Mahindra & Mohammed by the Mahindra brothers in collaboration with Ghulam Mohammed. Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M) as we know it now was founded in 1948 when Ghulam Mohammed left for Pakistan to act as its very first Finance Minister. Fast-forward a good few decades, and visionary Pratap Bose was brought on board.

Bose joined Mahindra after a solid stint as design head at Tata Motors and was earmarked to lead the company’s new global design organisation. The Indian automotive designer spearheaded the drive to refresh the former logo, which has graced Mahindra vehicles since 2002.

The new Mahindra logo is internally referred to as the ‘Twin Peaks’, and encapsulates a new corporate identity that leans into the notion of freedom and exploration – the thrill of chasing new horizons in the comfort and security of a vehicle that offers everything you need to have a seamless modern-day adventure.

When the current logo was released in 2002, it was carried by the Scorpio. The new Twin Peaks logo is now poised to be driven onto the worldwide stage by the striking XUV700, a powerhouse of an SUV that has been obsessively engineered to dial-up adrenaline like never before, with bleeding-edge tech, spirited performance and world-class safety features.

FUN FACT! The first logo that was ever trademarked was created in 1876 for Bass Brewery. It featured a red triangle with the word “Bass” beneath it, in a sweeping cursive text very similar to the Coca-Cola’s logo that we know these days.
