Why You’ll LOVE the new Mahindra Scorpio-N
The new generation Mahindra Scorpio-N SUV raises the bar when it comes to mid-sized SUVs in South Africa with superior off-road capabilities, a sleek redesign as well as competitive price.
Superior Off-Road Capability
The new Mahindra Scorpio-N is designed with high performance and terrain versatility in mind, allowing you to take on any type of road.
Rajesh Gupta, Chief Executive of Mahindra South Africa says, “South Africans will love the Scorpio-N. It’s for people looking for a real 4×4. The Scorpio-N is a highly capable and true SUV, engineered for real adventure.”
For a start the latest Scorpio-N has a built-in 4XPLOR intelligent terrain management technology, which automatically optimises traction for different terrains, so drivers can shift drive with the push of a button. The system is perfect for inexperienced off-roaders as it offers a choice of grass, gravel and snow, mud and ruts, and sand. For more experienced off-roaders, the familiar 4H or 4L can be selected easily, with the 4Xplor system activating and deactivating the rear diff lock automatically.
The Scorpio’s ladder frame also makes it very durable and less fragile. The addition of a Penta-link rear suspension with a Watts link mechanism makes any off-road terrain smooth to drive.
A Sleek New Design
Ten years on from its predecessor, the new Mahindra Scorpio-N’s design is subtler and way more upmarket. The new Pininfarina-designed Scorpio-N retains its utilitarian aesthetic with a bold new grille and muscular frame, but has been refined to be more modern and stylish, making it at home on and off road.
The exterior features Mahindra’s new Twin Peaks logo, muscular wheel arches, stacked tail lights, barn door tailgate and a beltline which curves around the D-pillar window to replicate a scorpion’s tail.
The interior of the Mahindra Scorpio-N is also a huge step up from the current model. Its coffee-black leatherette upholstery and brushed metal finishes make the cabin really comfortable.
The instrument cluster also features a larger central multi-information display flanked by analogue dials while the new 8-inch touchscreen offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity as well as a Multivision surround camera. A Sony 3D sound system is also fitted with 12 speakers as well as wireless charging.
Competitive Price
The most important aspect of any vehicle in today’s economic climate has to be its price point and so a good reason to buy the new Mahindra Scorpio-N then has to be its super competitive price. An SUV with seven seats, the Scorpio-N is a direct rival to the popular Toyota Fortuner, but pricing starts at R465,000* for the base model, which is R51,900* cheaper than the entry-level Fortuner.
The Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4 4×2 Automatic comes in at R465,000*, the Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 4×2 Automatic at R510,000*, Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 4×4 Automatic at R560,000* and Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8L 4×4 Automatic is R590,000*.
The Mahindra Scorpio-N also boasts rather impressive fuel economy. This 2.2-Litre Turbo Diesel Engine with 6-Speed Aisin Auto has a 57-litre fuel tank and consumption of 6.9-litres/100km, making it ideal for family trips, school runs, or weekend getaways.
Great Safety Features
Ready and able to take on anything, the All-New Scorpio N is engineered with the highest safety standards in mind. Safety features include driver drowsy alert, six airbags, traction control and hill-descent control.
The vehicle’s electronic stability control features brake disc wiping which ensures brakes are clear of water and debris in wet conditions, so you’ll feel safe no matter the weather.
If you are looking for a reliable SUV that you can take on the next adventure or comfortable drive to work, you have all the right reasons to choose the newest Mahindra Scorpio-N.
